What are the requirements for a volunteer?

No experience is needed for any of the volunteer opportunities – however, please let us know if you have volunteered at a balloon festival previously. Dress depends on your assignment. Please be certain to wear your volunteer T-shirt, as well as sturdy shoes, like tennis shoes – no open toed shoes. Please do not bring purses, back packs or other valuable items. No on-site secure storage available.

Is there an age limit?

Volunteers must be over 18 years for age. We are delighted to welcome mature volunteers under the age of 18. Any volunteer under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver for their participation.

How long is a shift?

Volunteer shifts are generally four hours.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

The chance to be up close for the entire balloon festival experience is phenomenal! Volunteers provided free admittance for themselves the day of the event that their shift is scheduled, so that they can enjoy the event when not working. Volunteers are provided a free official The Villages Balloon Festival volunteer T-shirt. Volunteers will have on-site parking in a designated volunteers parking area.

What are the responsibilities of a volunteer?

Volunteers agree to attend any of the training sessions held prior to the event, if applicable. Volunteers agree to represent The Villages in a professional and pleasant manner, showing exceptional hospitality to everyone visiting our facility. Volunteers agree to wear their official volunteers Shirts at all times when working on their assigned shift. Volunteers agree to check in at the volunteer tent prior to the event.

What is an Event volunteer?

Event volunteers cover many areas: Parking, Kid's Zone, Fun Zone, VIP tent or ticket stand & balloon volunteer. Assignments are at the discretion of event management.

What is a Crew Member volunteer?

This includes helping to get the balloons ready, helping inflate the balloons, assisting with the tethered rides and assisting with take-off and landing of balloons. This may be strenuous work, so make certain you can stand for 2 hours, as well as lift over 20 pounds.

We encourage you to bring your chairs. All balloon events are dependent on the weather. Security measures will be in effect including bag checks. No animals (with the exception of service animals), contraband, or outside food, including alcohol, will be permitted.
